Blu-Ray Player Recommendation

December 13, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

Blu-ray, a high-definition variation of the DVD format introduced three years ago, was initially met by a collective shrug from most consumers. Who needed another black box to connect to the TV, the thinking went, even if it did promise to play movie discs in clear, crisp high-definition?

But this year, even as the country moves tentatively out of a recession, consumers are buying the devices at a faster pace than they bought previous generations of movie players like the VCR and the DVD player. Analysts predict that sales of Blu-ray machines will be up 112 percent over last year, one of the true bright spots in retailing this holiday season.

If anyone out there is shopping around for a Blu-Ray disc player, then I have a personal recommendation for you.  I own (and LOVE) my LG BD390 player.  It’s not the cheapest BD player on the market, but it is a brilliant one!

lg_bd390 I love the crisp video playback, but it’s so much more than that.  Consider the integrated wireless (and wired) network capability, and you’ll find your with the capacity for video streaming from Roxio CinemaNow, NetFlix, Vudu, and YouTube direct to your television.  Also, you’ll be able to access your shared videos, photos and music from your networked home computers to stream direct to your TV as well.  And finally, my favorite feature… notification and one-touch installation for new firmware releases.  If it were up to me, every piece of electronic equipment sold today would be this easy to update.
